Hi, I’m Emily! I have loved creating for as long as I can remember. Art has been something that has followed me throughout my life, but has expanded and revealed itself to me in different ways. I began as a visual artist - drawing and painting, which allowed me to develop my skill and attention to detail. When I was in high school, my love for art began to showcase through makeup. Using a different canvas this time, my art became something that was a part of me, and something I could share with other people.

It was during this time I was introduced to graphic design, I found it interesting and different from what I was used to. It took me some time to learn all the new programs and techniques, but it was well worth it. It allowed for so many new possibilities and applications. Graphic design taught me how to create and design with purpose.

After high school, I started my design program at York University/Sheridan College. Over these four years, my design skills and knowledge were constantly evolving. This is also the time I started my beauty business ELM Beauty, and discovered my passion for branding and marketing.

I graduated in 2022, and took my beauty business full-time. There were a lot of learning curves, but in the end I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to build something completely on my own. Graphic design always remained a constant - especially when it came to my branding, marketing and advertising.

In 2025, I decided to shift gears and pivot to working in graphic design full-time. Doing lashes for over six years eventually took a toll on my wrists, so I decided it would be best to begin to ease my way out. This also granted me the chance to fully explore design opportunities that I didn’t get to take on after university.

I was able to find a job in digital marketing working as a junior graphic designer for DEPT Agency. I was able to work with clients on email marketing, in-app assets, web banners, online retail platforms, and client presentations. Working with a design agency reminded me of what a team of multi-faceted talented individuals can produce together. I hope to learn even more as I continue my path as a designer - currently welcoming new experiences, projects and a lot more art for the foreseeable future.
